Descemet’s Stripping Automated Endothelial Keratoplasty
KeraLink collaborates with each surgeon to customize graft thickness and marking preferences for DSAEK procedures. Hitting the thickness target is key whether it is used for conventional or Ultra-Thin DSAEK. Pressure and pass speed are systematically regulated to produce accurate thickness, more symmetric grafts and larger graft diameters.
KeraLink’s standard markings consists of a linear alignment mark, which is made immediately prior to the cut directly at the first entry point of the microkeratome blade. After the cut is performed and the anterior section /cap is placed back on, the 4 dots are placed where the cap meets the rest of the cornea to mark the periphery of the graft.
This type of marking aids more in defining the edges of the graft for assisting the surgeon in performing a centered punch.
The stamp is placed mid-peripheral to peripheral on the anterior side of the DSAEK graft (on the stroma prior to the cap being placed back down). This is an orientation marking to ensure the graft is not upside-down once inserted into the recipient’s anterior chamber.
